Descripton of levels
Beginners
For those who have no experience of Pilates. I usually run 2 or 3 complete beginners course throughout the year and if you have not done Pilates before you will need to start with one of these courses where you will be introduced to the principles of Pilates, the breathing techniques and start to work on strength and flexibility.
Beginners Plus
For those who have done at least 6 weeks of a beginners course. You will build on existing repertoire and start to learn new and more challenging exercises. Most people by this stage will feel some improvements to posture and flexibility, will be more body aware and starting to build on strength and co-ordination.
Intermediate
In this class you will be expected to have a sound understanding of the principles of Pilates. We will start to bring in the element of flow to the class, with graceful transitions from one exercise to the next.
Advanced
A challenging class for those who have fully mastered the beginners and intermediate programme. Classes will move at a swifter pace to improve stamina and co-ordination and you will be introduced to some of the advanced exercises from the Pilates classical repertoire.
Please note, there is no set time limit to attendance of any particular level of class. Progression depends on many factors: body types, age, genetic and hereditary make-up, past injuries, levels of fitness and stamina, how much you practise at home! Therefore you will need to discuss with me if/when you are ready to move up to the next level. |
